Shane Mitchell is a Unity Developer with 9+ years of experience building gameplay systems, tools, and scalable architectures in Unity and C#. His experience spans all stages of game development, from early prototyping to release and post-launch support. Shane has worked extensively with gameplay programming, multiplayer systems, data-driven architecture, UI programming, scene assembly, animation systems, editor tooling, project management, and publishing workflows. He also has experience with 3D modeling, rigging, particle effects, sound integration, texturing, and technical design pipelines.
Shane holds a B.S. in Computer Science / Business from Pepperdine University. During his time at Pepperdine, he assisted professors by grading computer science coursework and supporting students in technical subjects. His academic background combined software engineering, systems design, and business leadership, providing a strong foundation for later work in gameplay programming, technical architecture, and team leadership.
Shane Mitchell worked as a Pension Software Administrator from 2015 to 2022, where he maintained and expanded proprietary business software while continuing to develop his game development skills independently. In 2022, he joined Dream Foundry Games as a Game Developer and was promoted to Lead Developer within his first year at the company.
In his leadership role, Shane contributed to multiple projects, including Leviathan, a first-person online looter-shooter featuring large-scale multiplayer systems and networked gameplay architecture. Following the publication of Leviathan, Dream Foundry Games underwent financial downsizing, resulting in company layoffs.
Shane now works as the Lead Unity Developer on Medimon, an educational creature collector RPG. For this project, he architected gameplay systems alongside a scalable back-end data pipeline used to manage creatures, moves, items, NPCs, interactions, and scenes. He also developed the game's asset integration pipeline, allowing designers and artists to import and organize assets through streamlined automated workflows.
Shane has been passionate about games since early childhood and continues to enjoy a wide range of genres, with a particular appreciation for Nintendo titles, RPGs, strategy games, and indie projects. His interest in games extends beyond playing into systems design, mechanics analysis, and worldbuilding.
Outside of video games, Shane spends much of his free time designing and running tabletop RPG campaigns, primarily using Dungeons & Dragons and Pathfinder. He enjoys building custom gameplay systems, balancing mechanics, and creating unique campaign structures tailored to each group. Over the years, he has developed custom rule systems, survival mechanics, large-scale kingdom scenarios, and even Unity-based software tools to support his campaigns.
